My first Olfa cutting mat

I didn't really need these circular knives but bought two. They came in really handy when learning how to make paper quilt blocks. I have other brands but this was my first Olfa. I can tell you about the difference in quality. The fabric sticks to the surface, slips less, more accurate cut. I see no cutting marks, very good quality.

Pros
  • Store flat and out of direct sunlight
Cons
  • Nothing here

Strong plastic chemical odor

I bought this mat thinking I could use it as a small mouse pad as it is the right size and fits in with the overall aesthetic of my workspace but on arrival I noticed a strong one chemical smell from the carpet. Seal and prop65 cancer warning so I think I'll look for something else. Either way, it feels a bit flimsy for a cutting mat, so I'd give it a low score on several counts.

Pros
  • cutting mats
Cons
  • small items

Mandatory rotary cutter

Makes circle cutting easier and prevents table top damage. Prerequisite when purchasing an Olfa rotary cutting tool. I bought a 6x8 and it was big enough for me. I cut out 2 inch round tags printed on photo paper. If you're not cutting circles larger than 3 or 4 inches in diameter, you'll need a larger circle. The back is plain, but also usable.

Pros
  • Sewing
Cons
  • Discontinued

Works great as an alternative cutting pad in a die cutting machine

I use this plate as part of my cutting sandwich in a Gemini Jr. It took a few tries to get the right sandwich but it worked. I use Gemini Jr records. Top and bottom, die-cut and cardstock mat, and Gemini Jr. magnetic block. I also put a layer of cardboard between the back of the matrix and the magnetic spacer. It works great

Pros
  • Arts, Crafts & Sewing
Cons
  • Ugly Packaging
