I love these O'Neil shirts, but the sizing is a nightmare. I'm 6' 180 about 42 chest. I bought a large one and it's too tight even as underwear in my wetsuit. So I bought a very large long sleeve shirt and two short x large ones. The short sleeves are perfect, but the long sleeves are too dam baggy. The consistency is extremely bad.

size gone! best for diving and snorkeling

I usually wear large and sometimes XL. After reading the reviews I decided on XL. When I got it it was so tight I couldn't even put it on comfortably. The sleeves seemed fine, but the body was too tight. Some say it's a "relaxed landing," but it's not. I chose to return rather than exchange because I was concerned that the XXL sleeves were too long and I'm still not sure if they would be loose enough.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Beware if you buy this for sun protection!

This shirt is NOT an SPF shirt. My husband wore it snorkeling (in the South Pacific) two days in a row. On the first day he complained of a red back. I didn't believe him - he said it was impossible. On the second day it turned BRIGHT red. It only burned where he hadn't put sunscreen on. This shirt doesn't work. Too bad he fried his back. We had to buy another SPF shirt on our trip and it fit perfectly. Otherwise it fits well, looks nice and is a nice color.

Great fit (see photo)

I bought two, one for me and one for my father-in-law. I am 5'10" and 177 lbs. My father-in-law is 5'9" and 175 lbs. We bought a medium size in black and it fits perfectly - not too loose or tight. The neckline stitching issue mentioned in one of the critical reviews is gone. I like that it's not square and has some taper. The length (both sleeves and waist) is also perfect. Not too long and not too short. The material consists of 87% polyester and 13% elastane. It has a smooth/silky feel and a

FITS AS EXPECTED. for men

The short sleeve shirt is skin tight here but not here (I have both styles). In other words, if you usually wear a large dress, it will fit you. I usually wear tight or sporty shirts. This is a more relaxed fit. If you want a shirt to show off your athletic body, this isn't for you. Keep it up, the shirt is great. I love snorkeling on vacation and I get my worst sunburn from staying in the water for a VERY long time and not realizing my back is exposed and burned. The shirt helps a lot. Theโ€ฆ

My name is Neil O'Neill now!

my last name is Smith but for some reason O'Neill comes first. I gave in to peer pressure and introduced myself to everyone on the beach as Mr. O'Neill. That was over a month ago. The name kind of stuck, so I legally changed my name so I wouldn't have to lie to strangers anymore. My real name is Neil, so I feel a bit stupid when I have the name Neil O'Neil and I always have to explain that it's actually Neil with an L. I'm just glad I found a special woman on the beach recently who loves meโ€ฆ

Amazing and must try

Awesome rashguard. I'm 5'11", 215 pounds, Caucasian, with a small stomach, broad shoulders and above average muscle tone in my arms. I usually wear size XL and I don't want the rashguard to be too tight around me. The idea was to make sure I protected myself from the sun at the beach/pool rather than stocking up on +30 sunscreen as I always felt like I was missing spots when applying. I ended up buying one size up - XXL. It fit and worked great - no sunburn on arms or back or shoulders. Aโ€ฆ

MY GOD ! I love this sun shirt

I love this shirt. I usually wear big shirts but I prefer size XL for comfort and tighter waist. I went to the water park and wanted sunscreen and a loose sun shirt for comfort and looks. I ordered a black XL [I'm 5'9, 184 lbs, 43 chest] and it arrived the same day. The package was small and light, but the shirt proved to be durable and well-made from durable fabric. The O'niell logo too. This shirt kept me cool as the water evaporated and acted like a wick to ward off the day's 90+ degreeโ€ฆ

Quality sun protection and bathing comfort LS shirt

This is my second O'Neill rashguard/swim shirt and it is of the highest quality (a short sleeve and now this LS). Customer reviews of suitability and effectiveness vary widely, so here's my experience. I usually wear large or sometimes XL depending on the brand/cut. SIZE/FIT: The Carhart Large cotton t-shirt fits me loosely, while the Riggs Large t-shirt is snug but still fits. I bought this O'Neill rashguard shirt in a size 2XL hoping it would fit a little looser and it does. For me, theโ€ฆ
