Description of OTC 6192 TORX PLUS Socket

TP55 Torx PLUS bit socket with 3/8 inch square drive; Torx PLUS design is an evolution of the original Torx design that features lobes that are more square to allow for higher torque and minimize wear. Torx PLUS bit sockets are for use with Torx PLUS fasteners only - these bit sockets are not compatible with standard Torx fasteners. Made with two piece construction S2 grade steel, one of the highest quality tool grade steels used in production, this bit socket is designed for endurance. A natural finish ensures that this socket won’t crack or peel like many chrome plated versions can.

Powerful and compact!

Used to remove the bolts holding the seats in my 2001 Ford F-150. Perfect size and the bit didn't suffer from heavy use as some of the screws were quite stubborn.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Some cons

You need Plus for saddle bolts.

Do not use impact wrenches to loosen seat bolts, 1. this will void your warranty, 2. you will break the bolt heads in one motion and you will be twisted. As with trying to unscrew the locknut without a wrench, I used a ½ to ⅜ impact adapter and jack bar to loosen it since the DM has thread lock.

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • Drill Pack

Fits 2009 E350 seat bolts, not bent or broken.

Fits my 2009 E350 seat bolts perfectly and is very strong. I ended up snapping off a couple of those screw heads because they were too rusty. This tool didn't break or twist even with over 250 ft-lbs (24" pry bar, lever legs) of torque and the use of an impact wrench. It went all the way into the bolts and didn't break on force - what else? Can you ask?

Fits my 2009 Ford E350 Seat Bracket Bolts

TP55 Torx Plus is the correct socket size/type to remove the Torx bolts from my 2009 Ford E350 seat brackets. Also works on 2003 Ford E350 so should work on 2003-2014 Econoline. I'm not sure why another reviewer said the outlet works on their 2008 model. Note. A standard T55 connector will also work. It's not that snug (loose fit, but it snaps into place when you rotate) so you need to make sure it's properly aligned perpendicular to the bolt or you risk tearing the bolt off.

Pros
  • Sockets and Socket Sets
Cons
  • Expensive

Saves me switching from ratchet to ratchet.

I frequently swap out phasers on Ford 3.5L Ecoboost engines so I already have Torx 55 plus with 1/2" and 3/8" drive. I figured it would be more efficient for me to have another 3/8" drive so I could have one on my torque wrench and the other on the ratchet for the tightening process. Instead of buying another expensive snap on socket I bought this one and saved a lot of money. That works great! A maintenance mate in my shop uses this as his only Torx 55 plus and it has proven to be of very high

Pros
  • Hand tool
Cons
