Made the old Mac Mini better than the new. Much Better

This drive was used to replace an old drive in a 2009 Mac Mini. Works great and the extra speed of the SSD allows the old Mac Mini to boot up and run like a new machine. Installation took less than 10 minutes. Of course I then had to reinstall the operating system, but installing the product was quick and very easy.

Replacing the HDD with an SSD is a must!

I was skeptical it would make a difference but when I bought a used Mac with an upgraded SSD I was confident, I quickly upgraded all my machines and OWC made it easy to determine if it SSD and RAM chips were suitable for each of my computers and were also inexpensive and comparable to branded products

a huge improvement over the original drive

I installed it on an old MacBook Pro with the hard drive configured for SATA 1.5MB/s and even then the drive probably couldn't interface evade. I cloned the drive with a "toaster style" SATA cloner/enclosure, plugged the SSD into the MBP and was amazed at how much faster it booted up and launched applications or performed other I/O tasks. The system information panel confirmed that the SATA interface was set to 3 MB/s. I am very happy with this update.

    • perfect for outdoor activities

good for those dumb devices that can't handle sata3

Update: The price of this item has come down so much that I feel cheated into paying for what I did less than a year ago . sata3 is 99% backwards compatible, with the exception of some poorly designed devices that only work with sata2. I think this product is aimed at Mac users, but Asus U24E has the same problem. This has breathed new life into my laptop that doesn't recognize SATA3 hard drives. If you need SSD SATA2, then this is what you need! It's a bit more expensive than similar SATA3…

    The device has its disadvantages.

Got an SSD today. The packaging was good and undamaged. When I opened the plastic holding the device. I noticed that the connector on the SSD is not seated properly and is even a little torn. I'm not sure if all products are like this, but the plastic part of the connector is damaged. I'll post pictures for those interested. It's hard to find a good angle to show how messed up everything is, but I believe it should be symmetrical.

Decent SSD, MAYBE NOT SO FAST BUT GOOD

This drive is well priced and works well, but it's nowhere near as fast as my SanDisk SSD. I load them into Atomos hard drive cases and use them for video recording. I used the Blackmagic Design Disc Test Utility to test this and other discs. SanDisk consistently delivers around 350MB of read and write performance, while OWC drives deliver 250MB of read and write performance. My spinning hard drives barely manage 80MB reads and writes in the same test, and they're fast 7200rpm drives. I use…
