The description should actually say that they are not flat at the bottom, you have to put them in the sand and have a second photo from the side of the box as it can be seen. Had I had such information, I would never have bought this product.

These are amazing freshwater and marine dishes for my hermit crabs. They both really enjoy and the dishes are actually bigger than I thought. It's almost like a little beach in her aquarium when they're both next to each other.

They are well made I was concerned they would be too deep so I put some gravel on the bottom to be safe. I used different colors of gravel to help me remember the difference between saltwater and freshwater since the shells are the same color. My crabs are very small and can easily get in and out.
