I have a strange thing for the lighting. You make me happy. I bought a newer, lower profile lid and am going to be more creative this time. Difficult to install if you're not used to it, very easy if you're used to it. If you're a first-timer, this is a great way to learn (unplug the damn negative terminal).

This product is not waterproof. I installed them correctly on my boat trailer and when I first put my boat in the water the lights filled with water and shorted out. .causing my 4-way motor to get hot and melting the parking light wiring on my truck. had to cut the wires on the truck so I could still have the brake and turn signals. very disappointed. Waste of my money and my time.

Fit well and look good. The reason for the low recall is that the 4 small LEDs in each light were no brighter than the old bulbs they replaced. Other LED trailer lights I've used have always been brighter than the old incandescent bulbs. Also, the back panels are thin and thin. I didn't use them as the old panels worked fine once I removed the connecting tab from the middle.

My Recommendation: DO NOT BUY THESE SIDE GUARD LIGHTS. They are made with the idea that the outside light will snap into the base after the base is attached to the trailer. It's not going to happen! The outer body is longer than the receiving area of the base. I measured them with calipers. I filed a bit and snapped it into place; Only to find the base and outer case broken some time later. I gave this one star because you can't put a zero.

As others have written you need to be VERY careful when fitting the lens cap to the base. I used a pickaxe. There is a tiny slot in the center of the lens that the pick fits perfectly in. The base must be bent for the lens to snap into place. You will break the base if you hurry or it will freeze. Just take your time and make sure the base is warm so it flexes and doesn't crack. The lights are nice and bright, I would give 5 stars but the base shaft/lip needs to be a bit shorter.

I think they're worth it but wow how frustrating to pair and unpair! a little guidance or a hint would also be helpful. I used a 9 volt battery thanks to a suggestion I found online to ensure the neutral and hot wire are successfully identified, but I would have guessed wrong and miswired it without that advice. How difficult is it to include a sheet with wire polarity and suggestions for how to connect them? I think that costs 2-3 cents more.

My original delivery was missing two mounting brackets and screws. When the supplier was contacted, they quickly replaced and sent me the two missing brackets with screws. This product comes without documentation or installation instructions. I was pleased with the overall quality and value of the fixtures. BUT the fragile plastic mounting plate that comes with the lights is poorly constructed and once the base mounting plate is in place/tightened it is impossible to snap/force the sealed light
