A Compact Gadget for the Mobile Worker

The Patriot Gauntlet External Enclosure is an excellent tech gear for those who work remotely or need to transport data on the go. Through trial and error, I found that this device is compatible with most 2.5" hard disk drives and solid-state drives. The installation process was a breeze, and its compact design made it easy to bring with me wherever I go. However, the only downside is that it doesn't come with a carrying pouch. Overall, it's a great addition to my computer accessories, and I…

Pros
  • Easy to assemble and disassemble with tool-free design
Cons
  • Requires an external power source, limiting portability and convenience

Seems slower than even USB hard drives.

They seem to be even slower than the USB hard drives I bought from Fry, maybe it's the drive. I still have to test a few others, but I'm not sure if it was really worth it.

  • Electronics
Cons

Not stable with SSD

Not stable with SSD when transferring at 450+ MB/s via USB 3.1. The ASM1351 chip overheats and shuts down or freezes after a 20-30GB transfer. If you use hard disk drives and transfer at 50-200 MB/s, or if you only use USB 3.0 and max approx. 300-350 MB/s, absolutely stable.

Pros
  • HDD enclosure
Cons
  • old
