Pelican 1170 Case With Foam (Desert Tan) Review

Whatever color I like, the hardware works great. It has a polygonal foam interior that you can cut or separate to fit your weapon while still leaving room for at least one more magazine. Ideal for checked baggage with two TSA approved lock holes. Mud rubs off easily, though, so I wrap my guns in two sandwich-sized plastic bags and a magazine to keep the items from getting dirty. These pelican cases are very protective so they may be a bit more expensive but should use higher quality foam.

This old style has the padlock holes on the inside making it difficult to find the padlock by eye alone. Read lots of reviews but no model numbers for suggestions. So here's some help. Good case. I wish it was a little longer but I made it work for me. The case is stable and I was able to set it up without any problems. Although there is no lock, there are 2 holes for overhead locks. In large cases, these holes are reinforced with metal. That's probably fine, but a metal reinforcement would be nice if you want to attach the case to something with a cable. I have two other large pelicans and overall I am very happy with the brand. The pick and pluck system works well, although not ideal for me. I was only able to remove the depth I wanted for my Smith & Wesson M&P Shield with scissors as I had removed too much deep foam using only my fingers. If you do, don't despair. Just go to a hardware store, buy styrofoam, cut it up and stuff it into your (too deep) hole to make it shallower. After all, it's just foam. Purchased for air travel with firearms. I used regular key locks and followed TSA guidelines with TSA locks on my luggage. If you trust TSA, you can also use available TSA locks on the gun case to avoid being asked to open your gun and confirm it is properly stowed. Regardless, I haven't had any of these issues or lags. Case of good quality. I am fitting my Glock 19 pistol (with pilot light attached) and two magazines. If you lay the magazines sideways and stack them on top of each other, you can carry 4 magazines plus 1 more in your gun. I tried cutting out the outline with a razor blade. I did not feel that well.
