Affordable and effective

Inexpensive, essential tool for checking spark plug gaps prior to installation in a car. I didn't have any of these, but my father always had them. Now I do now. It works. It's easy to use and will stay in my toolbox for decades to come.

Pros
  • METRIC SIZE: 0.5mm to 2.5mm for quick and easy reading of marks and setting gaps
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Soft metal for testing, measuring and checking

Seems to be a good value tool. The tip of one of my spark plugs sank into the metal and got stuck, so it's a soft material. I don't know the accuracy, I haven't checked with a caliper. The "gap opener" is a nice feature, but I think I prefer checking gaps with feeler gauges.

Pros
  • SAE SIZE: .020 to .100 inch for reading marks for quick and easy distance adjustment
Cons
  • Large and bulky

Does what it's supposed to do

Can't say much. It is said that iridium (and possibly platinum as well) should not be pierced as you would damage them. I checked the releases anyway to make sure my releases are correct. Don't want to do two fork swaps, do you? It did a good job. .040 in my case for a 2005 Chevy Silverado 5.3L. I've used NGK Iridiums and Taylor 409 cables, let's see how they hold up. My factory AC Delcos has done 165,000 miles and is still running well. I liked this tool that someone recommended. GearWrench…
