Don't even think that this item can withstand rain, snow or outdoors. It will not. The ad makes it sound like it does. Thing will work outdoors, that's for sure. But by open air they mean a sheltered place where it's not exposed to the elements, including contact with the earth itself. None of this will work. It ONLY processes the outside temperature.
