later There are no power surges yet so I don't know about such a possibility but the phone shelf and sensory night light work great! I love the amber white glow - it's hard to find a non-white-blue light.

Unfortunately the night light went out and it has only been 10 months since purchase. I liked the design of the side sockets and USB ports, but the night light wasn't enough and that was one of the reasons for the purchase.

Its main feature is obviously a nice soft white night light. The photocell is at the bottom and the button on the front turns off the night light. I won't be using it as a phone charger but it looks like it will work fine.

So I bought this for my daughter on a whim but she loved it very much - she uses a night light and USB ports to charge her iPad and iPhone but If I had to find a disadvantage, which is that this product protrudes a bit, so it does not fit next to furniture near the wall. It would be great to use in an open space for outlets, but not so much behind/next to the bed. Standard height with border, in my specific use case. It was a bit expensive but we bought it used and it was like new. I realized this is exactly what we were looking for. We only have one outlet in this room which we converted from half of our dressing room into a kids room and there were a few electronics to plug in so we knew we needed some sort of power strip as well as a light sensor night.
