I was playing with Onix balls until last week when I found out that Dura 40s are being used in the tournaments I'll be playing in. Ordered 6.3 already cracked within 3 game sessions. Absolute rubbish. More Dura Orbs have broken in the last week than Onix Orbs have broken in the last 3 months. If you're into conspiracy theories, you might be thinking that USAPA and Durafast are conspiring to ensure you have to use a ball that doesn't last very long and therefore needs to be bought frequently.

In the last 6 months I've only played with a Franklin x-40 or this ball and this ball is nowhere near strong enough. It breaks too easily and feels almost smooth when you play with it outside for the first time. I bought these because some tournaments in Southern California use a ball, but they literally break in 1-3 sessions. And the industry will change, some major tennis ball manufacturers will come out with Pickleball in 2021, and durability will be an important, proven improvement.

One of the frustrations of Pickleball is the lack of a standard ball. There are balls inside and outside which I think makes sense. But each manufacturer uses their own proprietary material, so each ball plays and feels different. Last year our club announced Onix Fuse as the official ball.
