Fully Stringed

One of my many Covid projects has been to transport a 20 year old Hunter Douglas with a 72 inch wide pleated window shade. I have to admit that I had many reservations about this project and could not imagine that it would be successful. This little set was absolutely perfect. Following the detailed instructions on the source of all knowledge - YouTube - we were able to fix this curtain as soon as possible. This set has enough cords for many repairs, which is good as I'll be having them…

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Only available in Black

If you have cellulose tones then this set is for you.

After paying a local shop $55 JE to re-stretch 2 sets of cellulosic curtains and then seeing that the repair would only take about 3 years, I decided to try it myself instead . The kit includes blunt needles and a pulley and nothing else. But you'll find that's pretty much all you need to get your blinds back up. I would also recommend getting a roll of duct tape and/or some rubber bands to tighten the shade when changing strings and make sure you find a large, clean, level spot (large dining…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Good quality - patience required

Great value, lots of line and needles, but repeat bites require patience and attention to detail. We needed a slightly smaller 0.9mm cable as the slightly larger 1.0mm cable made a difference in how it fit into small fittings and wrapped around the auto-darkening coil. The needles were too big to go through a few small holes, but they did an excellent job on the larger ones, and did an excellent job of getting the main thread through the body of the blinds themselves; just not by smaller guides

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive
