Description of ๐Ÿ”Œ Platinum Tools 100010C EZ-RJ45 Cat 6+ Connectors, Clamshell, 50-Pack

Simplifies twisted pair terminations by allowing the wires to be inserted through the connector and out the front. Technician can easily verify the proper wiring order. Electrical performance of the termination is optimized by pulling the connector down over the cable jacket and seating it tightly in the rear of the connector. Reduces the distance between the wire twists and contacts improves performance. For use in Cat 6 compliant data networks.

Defective electronics

Let me start by saying that I initially liked these connectors. no crimping problems. I started using these platinum connectors at work and started having problems and couldn't figure out why until I noticed the contact problem you see in the photos. Now I also use a Platinum crimping tool and not some other fake brand. I've also tried a different brand of connector in my platinum crimping tools and don't have this problem. ALL packages are broken like this one. I don't see any problems with my

Looks promising - cables and connections

These connectors promise to make the RJ45 crimping process more reliable. I've found that you have to strip the outer wire insulation at least about 2.5 full inches, which is a lot more than the traditional method. You also really need to work with the wires to straighten them out and you MUST cut the ends of the wires to exactly the same length so they go through the holes. This part is very time consuming but the promise is that you will be able to eliminate the cable testing step to verifyโ€ฆ

Good idea, bad execution

As I'm not in the "business" I or my supervisor run Category 5 or 6 cabling. I really thought it would do my life much easier, but unfortunately it is not. Some connectors have "channels" next to the hole that lead the wires into the terminals that you crimp. They work well but can be difficult to work with thumbs. You only need to have a small amount of untwisted wire between the outer cover and the terminal, I saw these and thought "wow" works fine now with longer untwisted wires because youโ€ฆ

I don't buy your tool because it supports a misleading list. If they were open about the requirements and restrictions, I wouldn't complain. I bought this not knowing it would need another tool (my crimper wouldn't work) BUT MUCH WORSE, they seem to need YOUR $65 pass-through tool (many have trouble with bad connections when they use other pass-through tools). And based on other comments, it doesn't go well with CAT 6. That's another reason I wouldn't buy it. So for a lot of us this is theโ€ฆ

Do not use with 23 AWG Cat 6

I got these and the EZ Crimp tool last week for a weekend wiring project and ended up being a nightmare. In theory, they look great and ensure perfect wire placement every time. In practice, however, actually routing the wires in the correct order is very frustrating. First let me say I used 23 AWG Cat 6 cable which if you read the reviews these connectors will not fit. Although I didn't notice that when ordering. It's not like the product description warns you about it. Long story short, itโ€ฆ

A little tricky to use but maybe more reliable than standard RJ-45

I thought of 4 stars because it's very difficult to get the wires through the holes but that's not their fault Rifle; It's really amazing that the old RJ-45 has lasted from CAT1 to CAT7 so far and still works with updates and upgrades for gigabyte speed Ethernet. a little easier, a lot easier, but these connectors are still harder for me than regular RJ-45s - but. and that's a big but. Because the wires stick out at the end, you can be absolutely sure they'll seat you right the first time, andโ€ฆ

Better options available

Let's start with the positives of these connectors. They're probably fine for people with no experience making Cat 6 cable. The advert that "a technician can easily verify correct wiring order" is true enough, but any decent Cat 6 connector with a load bar makes it easier the verification. visually. The real magic is that a full crimp is assured as the wires pass through the end of the connector. Plus, you won't fall victim to my favorite mistake of flipping the plug and messing up the wires. I
