Be careful when tightening. The edges of the rim are very sharp and cut my finger when closing the bearing. I sanded the edges to make them safe.

I've always hand smeared but never felt like it was really packaged. This forces the fat out of the separators. So it definitely serves its purpose.

I needed this 'deluxe' bearing seal for a 4 bearing disc brake conversion. When packing the fourth, the plug for the grease gun broke off. I was able to get it out of the grease gun, but it wasn't easy. I do not recommend this product for use with more than 3 bearings!

I had one of these when I was younger and it worked well. I seem to recall that one or both of the cones had a steeper slope. It's almost impossible to get the bearing in the exact center so that the grease doesn't spill out from under the ring. Sent it back and hand wrapped again as it's a waste of time and fat.

I've read other reviews about edge sharpness and it applies to the lower perimeter. A quick 5 minute fix by running sandpaper over the edge to smooth the edge. I still give it 5 stars because it makes stocking easier and it's affordable. Be careful not to let the center screw shaft move away from you when removing and installing the upper bearing.

Bought for a friend who I found when I was still packing trailer wheel bearings the 'old way', ie the grease was squeezed out. I have one of these that I've been using since the 60's and couldn't function properly without it, so when I found this all metal one it was only natural to give it to my little friend as a gift. easy to use and gets the job done in a fraction of the time.
