Used Equipment best in Fluids & Maintenance

Very happy to receive the instrument. I opened it and it had engine oil and scratches on it indicating it had been used. Not the end of the world, just a little annoying.

Pros
  • Camshaft Retainer - Aligns the camshaft and holds it in position when the cylinder head is reassembled and the timing chain is replaced. Engines: M42, M44, M50, M52, M52TU, M54, M56, S50US, S52US.
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

You're better off with these tools.

The tools worked as they should which made my head gasket job a lot easier. If you mess around with a timing chain at all, get a fake chain tensioner if you're not sure how to do the job yourself.

Pros
  • Includes: LOCK #113240 Chain Tensioner Locking Pin #113292 VANOS TWIST WRENCH #115490
Cons
  • Clarity

Single VANOS M50B25TU aka M50TU

This product did an excellent job repairing my single VANOS system on my M50B25TU aka M50TU. It came with a pin to hold the upper tensioner, blocks to hold the cams, a lollipop tool to turn the timing gear and a flywheel locking pin. They are excellent quality for the price. You will need an Allen key, I believe 6mm, to secure the blocks. I would recommend watching YouTube tutorials before planning this project. I recommend watching Quinn Clark's video - M3NACE, Pawinning and itsBlack.

  • No Form Required

Works best in motorcycles and power sports

This tool kit is ideal for removing the cylinder head on M52 to E36. The cam locks fit snugly to the ends of the cams without modification. The camshaft wrench also worked. I didn't lock up the flywheel and had no trouble removing the head. They even include a pin for squeezing the chain tensioner. Couldn't be easier. I wouldn't remove the head or cams without this tool; To do this you need to turn both camshaft sprockets to disengage the vanos mechanism without turning the cams. This tool…
