🦈 PNSO Prehistoric Megalodon Ancient Monster Toy Review

It arrived a few days earlier than expected and this is my first PNSO model that I have received. It arrived undamaged and the detail is amazing, it has a posable jaw, with sculpted neck details, the added paint looks really nice. In particular, they added a fleshy color to the softer parts around the gills and gums. Worth a good $20. But DO NOT put the model in water as you will most likely ruin it.

A nice addition to my prehistoric collection. I love the details, from the sculpting to the painting. Very good. The only downside is that the stand is practically unusable. I mean why use a small rectangular base for a large oval shape? But that doesn't bother the model. It's still beautiful. It has big, sharp teeth, so don't give it to small children. Unless you want to make them harder for real models and toys with sharp teeth. Then definitely.

The product was delivered with scratches. Had to request another shark. My son was disappointed while waiting for another shark to arrive. Update: the second shark was delivered a few days later, same scratches on the shark in the same places which leads me to believe they must be there?! This was not shown in the picture. The scratches are brilliant white which looks like a product defect but my son still loves the shark. He wants to keep both!

For the most part I really like PSNO products but I have to say this Megalodon didn't live up to expectations. The sculpture is good as is the articulation of the mouth. The mouth opens very wide, with clear internal details of the mouth. However, there are two things that kill this product for me. I collect and review Dunkleosteus models and this is my new favorite. Except for the dorsal fin, which is too far back (recent material from Morocco pushes it forward), I think the details here are correct or very close, since we don't have fossils of the entire creature. It flows like a real animal, not like a static model: you can hang it in an aquarium and most people won't go wrong at first glance. The color is necessarily speculative but very believable. I expected really great models from PNSO. - one behind the front fins, one on the "waist" and one on the caudal fin. I understand this is a very long beast, it's almost impossible to shape the plastic into a shape. But the seam lines on this particular model are worse than the average Walmart toy. If you look closely at the official photos here on Revain, you can even see the stitching THERE! The model (or perhaps the livery) also has unusually small eyes. I'm not sure if this is a known…
