Yes, I know that in a perfect world, no one would use an extension cord. The cord that the heater was connected to and the plug itself got hot after a few minutes of use. I stopped using it and ordered this item. I've used this for several hours since then and hooked it up to the same heater with no problems. Cables and plugs stay cool.
