Performed well when connected to my laptop

This 512GB external USB-C SSD performed well when connected to a Dell laptop. The sequential read and write speeds were pretty impressive. Random read and write speeds weren't as impressive, but still good. I can't comment on the reliability of this record as I haven't had it that long. So far, so good.

Small, fast and works with both Windows 10 and MacOS

I currently use a hard drive between MacOS and Windows 10 devices. On macOS, I recommend reformatting them to exFAT by choosing Launchpad > Other > Disk Utility. Under "External" select "Phison PU31 Media" and hover over "DELETE". Choose the "exFAT” format and proceed with deleting. You can now use it on both Mac and Windows if you originally used a macOS device. On Windows, this shows up as NFTS, but I also recommend reformatting to exFAT. On my HP Omen 15 AMD Ryzen 4800H, I get…

Burns rapidly until it becomes blazing.

At first I was very impressed. Later less. Sturdy metal body, solid connector, included USB-C cable is short and nothing fancy but gets the job done. Connected to M1 Mac Mini for testing. Formatted HFS+ drive. Blackmagic Disk Speed Test and AmorphousDiskMark were used for comparison. Initial/highest results were first obtained with the Thunderbolt 3 port. Later (and slower) results were tested with a 10Gb/s port. As you can see from the benchmarks, the 512GB PQI port matched (and in some cases…

Slim external SSD best for storage

This is an M.2 2280 external SSD I've never heard of PQI. It offers a pre-formatted (for Windows) 476 GB drive. This is the perfect USB-C addition to my rather small laptop hard drive. I use it to backup photos. It's very fast, although I haven't run any test tools on it. Copying a gigabyte video file took only 7 seconds (by our own time calculations). In general there are no complaints.

Works well. Good packaging. Ok cable.

Well packaged in a box, perfect as a gift. Packaged so well I had to rip open the box to get the SSD out. Also included is a CC cable - although it's really cheap (not braided wire; it's made of silicone which will break if bent too much - and is about 12 inches long). Also, it's thin and light, so you can take it anywhere. There is no light to indicate the drive is working when connected to my gaming laptop. I've noticed a significant increase in performance - just what I need. All…

Reliable external SSD storage.

Fast external SSD drive. The drive comes with a short USB-C to USB-C cable that you can use to connect the drive to your computer. The test results are in line with expectations. It's a fast little drive with a large capacity of 500GB (actually 477). Windows 10 recognized it immediately after connecting. The case is kept quite simple, even if it is not designed for optimal heat dissipation. Therefore, try not to touch the drive during intensive work, as it can become hot. Otherwise, it's an…

Perfect for my needs

I was looking for a way to speed up my games as all my games are installed on an old hard drive. I know there is a difference as all my other computers have SSDs and everything is so much faster that not using one is ridiculous. I think the fastest transition from boot to ready to go was over two minutes on the old HD and around 15-30 seconds on the SSD. I could be wrong, but I think I'm close. This allows me to quickly get on with what I want to do without having to wait for it to finish. I'm…

Lightspeed is the best in computing and accessories

This PQI 512GB EXTERNAL M.2 SSD, 3D NAND Flash, Gen2 PCle, NVMe, M.2 2280, USB-C is the first external SSD I I have a drive, although I've tested many other improvised external SSD implementations that require a separate NVMe drive to fit inside the case for use with USB and they work well enough, but some of them are cumbersome and many have won do not last. This implementation is much easier and better for him. All you need to connect this thing is to use USB-C for power and connect to your…
