The Pat I Needed for a Whole House Humidifier

I needed a GeneralAire Solenoid for a stove fan humidifier. The delivery was fast, the price reasonable, and the installation wasn't long in coming.

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • Not Sure

Order original spare part General Air

The part perfectly replaces the original, but the membrane should not be the same in characteristics, as it gave a loud piercing squeak during operation. I had to take it off and order a factory unit. Tried to save $10 and lost $30

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • High price

Use screw connections of the original device

The supplied brass screw connections are very leaky. I had to use the original hardware to fix the problem. So far the device has worked well except for one occasion when it made a loud buzzing noise. I turned the humidifier off and on again and the buzzing stopped. It hasn't happened since then. The quality is a bit questionable.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not reliable

Works well but a bit noisy

Removed brass fittings and used teflon tape to ensure tightness during installation. Works fine but I had to reduce the pressure of the water entering the solenoid to reduce the excessive flow rate. The solenoid is too loud, but since it's in the basement I decided to leave it alone. I've had it for three weeks now and it works perfectly. Four stars only because of the excessive volume. Otherwise I'm satisfied.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Some flaws

Works but stick with your old fittings (see below)

This unit works great with my 1024LH General Aire humidifier EXCEPT this unit does not include a flow restrictor so keep your previous fittings. The flow restrictor (on my unit) was installed on the "IN" side of the old valve. I used some vinegar and salt to clean the old flow restrictor and install it on the new valve. When a ton of water flows through the humidifier, there is no flow restrictor. I thought the flow restrictor was in the newest valve, but it's not the brass fitting on the inlet

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • old

Seems to work but comes with wrong outlet for 1137 Generalaire

I seem to go through a new valve for my Generalaire solenoid every year, although every spring I try to clean, disconnect and dry it. It was the cheapest replacement valve I've seen and I'll give it a try. I connected two wires and it worked in my first test. However, while assembling the humidifier, I found that the outlet did not fit my 1137 Generalaire outlet tube. (The picture looks correct, but the outlet fitting was different.) I was able to take my old valve apart (not easy. These…

  • Nice to use
