After upgrading my computer at work, I had a spare power supply that I used at home. As HP changed models, they changed the connectors on the laptop. I wanted to swap out the power supply for one that would work with my new computer and the technician said you can get an adapter that will allow you to use this old power supply with the new computer. I order them and they work great.

I work in the company's IT department and we have retired old HP laptops (models 84x0, 87x0) so we have a lot of PSUs with a thicker straight tip. Newer models have a thinner 90 degree tip and these adapters allow us to use additional power supplies on newer laptops. We save money by replacing lost power supplies and saving a bunch of old ones from being lost. Win.

Product prepared to specification but the adapter to connect to my laptop depends on the connector. The adapter I use on my charger at my home office connects well and firmly. The adapter I use at work gets lost and I have to giggle and twist it to connect and see charging. The one on my power cord in my bedroom is lost but always shows charging when plugged in. They all seem to be slightly different sizes. And this is on a laptop. That keeps me from giving 5 stars.

I had two old power supplies with large barrel connectors. One was Dell and the other was HP. I have two laptops that I wanted to use these power supplies on - both HP. They required smaller cylindrical connectors. Both pigtails connected power supplies well and both matched power supplies worked with one of the computers while only one (HP) worked with the other. I use DELL and HP laptops for business and personal use. I have a few short 90 degree adapters but they are difficult to trace. They have a short cable between plug and socket. I use a zip tie to connect the adapter cable to the DELL power cord connector so it's not easy to lose and I can easily plug and unplug to switch between DELL and HP connectors. GREAT.
