Does not work with Apple Monitor A1082 DVI-D input

Product is manufactured as described. My use case is DisplayPort over Thunderbolt 3. So I have a current era iMac connected to an Express 4M2 Other World Computing. A Rankie DP-DVI adapter was used to connect the 4M2 to the DVI-D input of an Apple Cinema HD display (A1082). For me, mouse movement was slow and jerky, and the display didn't show anything. Apparently the iMac recognized the connection. However, it didn't work properly.

Pros
  • Connect a DisplayPort (DP, DP++, DisplayPort++) equipped laptop or desktop computer to a monitor or projector with DVI input; Requires DVI cable (sold separately)
Cons
  • Some small things

Misleading Product

Before purchasing this product, please make sure that your use case meets the following criteria: - You are connecting a DVI-D display to a DP++ output - Your DisplayPort output is actually DP++. If it doesn't say DP++ above it or on the product packaging, don't rely on it. The DP++ connector automatically detects the DVI-D connector via the passive adapter and converts the signal from DP to DVI-D itself. If it's not DP++, you'll need a more expensive active adapter to convert the signal. This…

Pros
  • Transfers high definition video from a computer to a monitor for video streaming or gaming; Supports video resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 / 1080P (Full HD)
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Does not work with DVI-VGA adapter and VGA display.

I chose this adapter over the DisplayPort to VGA adapter because other reviews have noted that it has DVI analog compatible connectors. I decided to use it with a DVI to VGA adapter to connect an old VGA LCD I had laying around and later I was able to use the same adapter with a DVI monitor. There is no such happiness. The monitor immediately went into sleep mode even though it was recognized in the device manager. Tried other DisplayPort connectors, other DVI-VGA adapters, and troubleshooting…

Pros
  • Gold-plated connectors resist corrosion, provide durability and improve signal transfer.
Cons
  • socket required.
