Inexpensive, port freight quality.

This kit was only purchased to use the 0.10mm gauge to calibrate the 3D printer. The kit arrived quickly but it was pretty dirty and all the sensors were covered in oil so I had to take it apart and clean everything before I could use it. But when the oil was wiped off the gauge I was using, small spots of rust and corrosion began to appear on it. If you need a "good" tool, look elsewhere. Sooner or later I will buy a better sensor. Buy cheap, buy twice.

Pros
  • test, measure and inspect
Cons
  • unreliable

Coated with oil, easy to clean.

Update: doh, which is why I've never seen anything so obvious: just loosen the screw holding the blades in place. Place them on a paper towel and use a few more to remove the oil. Works well. Alte: Looked good but was covered in oil. I've bought many other small metal items - files, gauges - on Amazon and they were all wrapped in VOC paper, not oil. I suppose an oil coating will protect against rust better, but I need to measure the violin string spacing next to the nut in tenths of a…

Good probes (used on my 3D printer)

Update August 2019: These probes still work fine for me, but the ones I use regularly are very worn. Corrosion is a very thin layer, so adjusting the gap for my 3D printer's nozzle is quite enough. I suspect you shouldn't wipe off the excessive amount of oil that is on it. Next time I buy them I'll see if anyone makes a stainless steel version. Original Review: I bought these to calibrate the nozzle height on my 3D printer (using .08, .09, .1). They are great for my purpose and the extra length
