Insufficient contrast to recognize caller ID

Even with maximum contrast, the display is almost impossible to recognize. My goal was to have a wall phone in the kitchen for caller ID. Unfortunately, I can't see the incoming number until I sit right on it and crouch down to look her in the eye. There is no backlight to make the numbers stand out. I end up going to one of my cordless phones to see who's calling.

Suitable for landline phones

This replaces a larger and chunkier phone. I wanted something simple - no answering machine, no extra handsets, just a phone with caller ID. This is a caller ID phone. It works. Calls are clear, the display is ok (could be better, but I don't want to complain for the price). I was confused by the location of the buttons on the back. I thought my hand or shoulder might accidentally squeeze them while on the phone. I had no problems with that. Good phone at a good price.

Mediocre phone - office electronics

The two things that bother me the most about this phone are the way it tilts down when hanging on the wall. So unless you're over 4 feet tall, you'll have to bend down to see the caller ID display when a call comes in. This is probably a nice feature for a desktop computer, but not for the "hang on the wall" option. Another thing is that it sounds like some callers are on the beach with the sound of the water. I think I expected better technical quality from RCA. My Att phone it replaced was…

It's functional! Best in the Phones & Accessories Category

I bought this phone to use in the workshop mainly for its caller ID feature and for that purpose it serves the purpose. As with many other reviews, I agree that the display can be difficult to see in certain lighting conditions, but is easier to read when using a flashlight. I no longer have to run to the house to find out who is calling like I had to in the past. All the phones I've researched with this type of display and price range have this display trait, so that's what it is. For a garage

Arrive on time and work well for .

Delivered on time, works well for the price. Although it touts a caller ID feature, you can't read well until you're holding the phone to your face, and even then it's difficult to make out the writing unless you have direct light on the display. The fonts are too small to see. The display of my device often remains blank due to the incorrect design of the battery compartment. I have to open the battery compartment, reinsert the batteries and the display works again. But it happens so often…

Same problem as everyone else.

I have a phone jack for a wall phone. It's in the kitchen and somewhere I don't need cables and docks and things like that on the counter so I keep getting these caller ID wall phones that don't require AC and they ALL have the same problem. They take batteries and the caller ID is pretty much unreadable, but after about two weeks it doesn't matter much because the batteries die then. I'm not interested in changing batteries every two to three weeks, so I don't use caller ID. It's probably…

More and more annoying!

When I first got this phone I thought it was a 2 or 3 star phone but the longer I've had it the more I hate it. The button you press to end a call gets stuck so I have to pry it off with my fingernail when I pick up the phone. Annoying but maybe not a big deal...UNLESS it was an emergency. But what made me want to return it is when I go to pick up the phone because the base is so light and the hand cord is so tight it ALWAYS pulls the phone off the bedside table. Then I have to pick it up and…
