Excellent for the price.

I have two of these, one I bought new years ago and one I just bought from Revain. They are not beautiful players, but they are very good players. They play both CDs and MP3s with no problems and sound good. They are easy to use and, unlike the Denon, can be turned on and off with a remote control. I have zero complaints and maybe a third.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Five CDs, no music!

I was very intrigued to learn that RCA is offering a CD changer that plays MP3s. While RCA got mediocre reviews online and I couldn't find any specific reviews for this player, I took a chance and ordered it. It arrived (in disposable packaging), I unpacked it and immediately noticed its lightweight (cheap?) plastic construction. Plugged it in, put in some CDs and . Nothing! It recognized discs but did not play them. Revain kindly agreed to send me another unit on the second day and paid for…

Works for me on stereo shelving

I have been using this MP3/CD player for at least 4 years and it works perfectly. It was on at least 12 hours a day playing CDs, sometimes continuously for several days. (sometimes when I forget to turn off the player). So I have to say that it was very durable for me. The quality is acceptable to me, and I suspect that most people who listen to MP3 CDs will end up with low quality MP3s that don't even come close to the limits of this unit's capabilities. Audio CDs sound good to me too. The…

Ok MP3 player, terrible CD player

It plays MP3s really well and is pretty neat. However, this is a terrible CD player. Why? Well my main gripe with this is that when playing a CD there is a little pause between tracks. A lot of CDs have songs that flow from one track to another and in fact most of my CDs are like that as I am a fan of dance music (and DJ). But that doesn't happen with this CD player because there's a half-second pause between tracks. When you're listening to a mix CD, it's pretty annoying. Since all my CDs are…

Don't bother either. best in stereo shelving systems

I bought this used CD changer as an alternative to playing CDs only in the car or on my Discman. It works reasonably well (so far) on CDs that are factory cleaned and kept in perfect condition. However, error detection on this device is extremely poor. Slightly worn CDs that play just fine in the car or on my Discman will skip terribly on this player, sometimes multiple times per track. You have to fast forward them as the player cannot go through them. I bought a used CD off eBay with a few…
