Excellent Coax: my feedback

I used this coax with Amphenol connectors and it maakes a pretty good system much better.I had an SWR of 1.4:1 to 1.6:1,which is kinda unacceptable.I replaced the RG8x that was 3 weeks old with this RG400 and SWR dropped down to a flat 1.0:1.I used a butane mini torch to install the Amphenol connector,so it got pretty hot and the center conducter held up fine without melting. The silver finish on the drive and 2 shields is really nice looking.I will be buying more to do another mobile, some…

Pros
  • Good product
Cons
  • Heavy and Bulky

Great for short jumpers

I got this on the recommendation of Mr. BBI and happy with the stuff. I won't use it on long runs since its loss is over twice that of LMR-400 at 30MHz. But for jumpers, I love it. I run around 1.8KW PEP through it and DX Engineering claims 2.75KW power handling for their jumpers using this cable. Your UG-176 reducer (for RG-8X) will be loose, but a length of heat shrink tubing builds the diameter adequately and gives a nice pro look. UG-175 is the correct reducer for this cable though.

Pros
  • Good product. It does what is supposed to do. Good quality.
Cons
  • Potential Interference: While the double shielding of this cable is designed to reduce interference, there is still a risk of signal loss and degradation over long distances or in areas with high levels of electromagnetic activity

Takes the heat, it's real Teflon.

UPDATE: It's been in use for over 1.5 years now as jumpers and outdoor feedline. I have no complaints, I'm getting ready to order more!Takes the heat, it's real Teflon. I used high heat to flow the solder well. I won't have to worry about the migration of the center conductor through the foam of typical coax in the desert heat with this cable!

Pros
  • I was actually surprised that it was double shield. Also the center conducter is Teflon insulated.
Cons
  • Limited Compatibility

It's true RG400! good for me

This works great. Installed in my Experimental Aircraft and it functions great! The shipping was quick. Nothing more to say as it works just fine and fits high quality BNC connectors perfectly.

Pros
  • Great avionics install
Cons
  • At 40 feet in length, this cable can be quite expensive compared to other similar products on the market, making it an impractical choice for budget-conscious consumers
