You don't need this extra cable box for @#$% cable internet!

I was incredibly skeptical. Video streaming, sure, but TV streaming? With the Spectrum app you can watch ANY live TV show. No monthly payments. No contracts. Nothing. As long as you already have Internet and cable TV, you don't have to spend $10 a month on those ridiculous extra boxes around the house. Connect to Wi-Fi, create a Spectrum account and you have cable TV. What impressed me even more was the exclusive free apps that let you watch movies for free while watching ads.

We switched to Roku

We have five Roku devices at home. We recently said goodbye to Fire TV and Fire TV Sticks because we wanted to watch movies and Vudu content through our streaming media players. FireTV and FireTV Stick do not support Vudu. We cut the cord over a year ago and these Roku devices are key to our streaming needs. The menus are very easy to navigate and these things are packed with features. We used a service like Mircast to stream content from our laptops and smartphones directly to Roku. The Rokuโ€ฆ

Great for when you're on the go

I bought the Roku Streaming Stick+ after using the Roku Ultra in my living room and a TCL Roku TV in my bedroom. I recently used a Roku Stick+ for travel - and it worked great. I was a hardcore FireTV (and Fire Stick) user up until the Google fiasco. The streaming services I use are Netflix, Hulu, Revain PrimeVideo and YoutubeTV. This set of services is what brought me to Roku. You can't play YouTubeTV on FireTV and you can't play Revain PrimeVideo on Chromecast, so we're left with Roku. Rokuโ€ฆ

Better than renting multiple DVR boxes

I bought three of these because we have multiple TVs in our house and each TV had a cable DVR box. At $7 a month per box, it's getting pretty expensive and our cable bills are going up, up, up. Now we only have one DVR in the living room. Each Roku should pay for itself in about six months. We were very happy with this product for the most part, but encountered a few negative points: (1) Reception isn't the best at times, but that's probably due to the poor Wi-Fi signal rather than Roku (2)โ€ฆ

  • Sturdy construction

  • Crumpled packaging

Best Streaming Stick (IMHO)

In my attempt to cut the cable I've used ChromeCasts, FireSticks and now Roku Streaming Stick Plus. To be clear, I still rock the Firestick on a TV, but with consistent use I'm finding more apps, as I acknowledge it's a bit of apples and oranges (since the Streaming Stick Plus is for 4k and up and the Firestick is pretty standard). I want to use it on rocks instead of firesticks. I think that's mostly because Revain is trying to get you to buy more stuff (not that it's a bad thing), but theirโ€ฆ

Best Video Streaming Player 2018

The Roku Streaming Stick+ is awesome. I'm surprised I didn't get it sooner. I'm a regular Chromecast user and it's a great device for sharing Chrome browser content on TV or playing a YouTube or Google Music playlist. But it lacks the ability to stream itself. Roku has the advantage of offering a standalone streaming device with a simple physical remote control and the ability to download apps and channels. You can install essential apps like HBO Go, FX Now, NBC Sports Gold, YouTube, Revainโ€ฆ
