This is not a USB 3.1 enclosure. This is a USB 3.0 enclosure. This is stated on the first page of the documentation. The seller is trying to fool you hoping you won't bother sending it back. The speed difference between USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 is significant. I'm sending two of them back. I will buy something else.

First of all, the product description says it is a USB 3.1 GEN2 enclosure. This includes a Type-C to Type-C cable. As you can see from the photos above, my device came with a USB Type-C to USB 3.0 cable. I haven't had a chance to check the drive's speed yet. I will update my review when I am able to. I used this to clone an SSD and when I was done I swapped the HDD for a laptop with an SSD and kept the old HDD. It started cloning just as fast (112.94 MB/s) but slowed down to (55.63) in the end. The 2.5 inch size is good but flimsy and light on the side. The best part: the price. 7 dollars. It works, but it was just a project (poor handwriting, aphasia).

I have ordered this and several other USB 3.1 GEN 2 (10Gb/s) enclosures. This one didn't connect at those speeds, I got about 60MB/s with the SSD drive. With another ELUTENG drive, it connects to 10GB, I get 200MB/s++. I've included an image that even on my MacBook, the top speed is 5Gbps, which is actually the speed of Gen 1 USB 3.0. Works great and is cheap. There are no assembly instructions, but it was easy to understand. The included backplane only fits the drive one way, and the orientation of the drive on the bottom of the case is obvious as the USB-C connector needs to line up with the access hole.
