Great dock, loud fan.

There were a lot of old HDDs and SSDs from laptops that were upgraded or taken out for security reasons that just got dusty instead of being used for something useful. This dock was just the thing to use them. I've populated all four bays with drives of various types and capacities and they all work great. I connected a dock with ReadyShare to a USB 3 port on my Netgear router for a poor man's NAS. I connected all drives to windows 10 and they are always online and ready to use. Since it's…

Pros
  • Useful not only for it's intended purpose
Cons
  • May hurt

Very good price - not everything is available

So I bought this thing for my poor husband's NAS and loaded 4 x 1TB 5400rpm hard drives into it. First, the fan is quite noisy. Too loud for 24/7 work in the living room. With no fan and even with the cover removed, my Seagate drives got very hot under heavy loads, over 55 degrees Celsius, enough to cause a SMART error. With the lid closed and the fan running, they drop to 30, which is quite normal. even colder than really necessary. I replaced the fan with this one…

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Crumpled

Better than NAS. In many ways

I needed a better storage option than a NAS, we were in our RV all the time and the NAS just didn't make sense. - Value - Multiple drive bays - USB powered (optional) - Solid state drive compatibility - Compact design: Sabrent USB 3.0 meets almost every need. Small, compact, inexpensive, 4 drives, fan (can be switched off) and looked good. It has a separate power cord, which wasn't a deal breaker (and I actually liked it when I thought about plugging it into my UPS). I write a considerable…

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Big and bulky

There were many promises. Just fraught with a lot of frustration.

I have always loved, trusted, and purchased Sabrent products. I thought I might buy this as cheap male storage to use as a DVR for my Win 10 mini HTPC. I have a Synology DS409slim and DS416slim 2.5" NAS boxes and thought it might give me the same features as an external, side-mount USB drive on the cheap. Although I tried, I couldn't get it to work. Unfortunately, see I didn't see any functional use for this product despite the low price due to the limitation.I ended up buying another DS416slim

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Security
