bought this replacement pad for our porta cord grinder. The replacement part has a plastic base that melts when rubbed. this caused the propellers to come loose and wrecked our car. We literally used the item once for about an hour. We had to buy a new grinder! total waste of money.

I'm a carpenter at home so my grinder is getting some real work out. I seem to have gone through a lot of pads for this grinder. This one was tougher than the previous one, which is a good thing. It fitted my grinder perfectly and was delivered very quickly. Helped me a lot when trying to complete a project and was looking forward to it.

I bought this to replace the original which was falling apart. The screw holes lined up well and assembly was fairly easy. The problem was that the screw holes in the plastic mounting plate fell out completely in less than a minute of work. See photo. The original plate was steel. I will try to get a refund for this item and find one with a steel plate.

I expected the old one to be simply removed and replaced with a new one. That didn't happen with my Porter Cable random orbital sander. The heads on my mounting screws were larger than the holes in the sanding pad. I had to be careful to enlarge the holes without drilling through the gasket. I used a faucet and enlarged the hole by hand. deep enough to sink heads. Once attached it worked well - the sandpaper held up much better than the old pad.
