Pay attention to reviews.

I bought my Sangean radio on 09/07/2018 and read a few reviews at the time that this radio just stopped playing after a while. Unfortunately I didn't put much stock in that as there were so many 4 and 5 star reviews. A little over a year later (and now out of warranty) the same problem started with my radio tape recorder. A few times a day this radio would stop playing for no reason. I waited several hours. it will start again. It only got worse over time and now my Sangean PR-D7-BK only runs…

Ravine Life: Portable Audio & Video

GREAT RADIO! It works phenomenally at low altitude surrounded by tall hills/hills and trees. No other radio I've tried in years has been able to do this. You can now receive Red Sox, NPR and Remote AM games with the Sangean PR-D7. The sound is clear, the speaker is impressive. The team behind this little portable radio did a great job. Thoughtful controls with the option to use standard or rechargeable batteries or AC power with its 'strong' power cord. What's really cool is that the radio will

Pros
  • Synthetic PLL tuning system
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Bought September 2013. Worked well. Rarely used but batteries are always removed after use. Both rechargeable and alkaline batteries are used. Insert batteries, press power button, radio. Today, when PG&E turns off the power in an hour, puts in the batteries, presses the power button and I'm holding a brick. Tried, rechargeable and alkaline, dutifully flipped the little switch every time - totally unresponsive. No clicks, pops or magic smoke. ZIP Code Very frustrating, planned obsolescence…

After Hurricane Harvey. Lesson learned.

When the rain from Hurricane Harvey inundated Houston (52 inches!), I was horrified to find my so-called emergency radio was complete crap. I stupidly bought one of those multifunction radios with crank, battery and flashlight and left it in the garage for years. Big mistake. Alkaline batteries leaked, the handle didn't work with bobs and fell out when I needed it most. Stupid! The power went out and I sat in the dark, relying on my phone and waiting for the weather forecast while the water…

I bought this PR-D7 to replace the alarm clock.

I bought this radio mainly as an alarm clock and also as a radio for leisure activities. Dual alarm, HWS buzzer or music. Alarm clocks are easy to set up. They stay tuned from day to day. So if you want to wake up at 6:00 a.m. every day, you don't have to reset it every day. The buzzer starts out soft and then gets much louder for about 20 seconds. The time is always displayed on the right side of the screen unless you are using an alarm clock. The time display is shown regardless of whether…

Very, very impressive. Rolls-Royce "Work Radio "

Very impressive little radio. My old cheap GE "work radios" (the radios I use for painting, sanding, repairing, etc.) were having problems and I wasted too much time setting them up, positioning them, and salvaging them. they tuned in - instead of working on any projects. I didn't use battery power so I always had to use an extension cord. It took some planning (long extension cords) if I wanted to listen to the radio on the go. These radios were over 25 years old and cost about $10 each. I…
