The tool arrived much quicker than expected which is a plus for me. Okay, as far as the tool goes, it doesn't seem cheap and it did what it was supposed to do with no issues.

Only works with engine removed. Very deceptive and basically useless. When the engine is not running you can move the tensioner by hand as the spring is very weak so this tool is only useful if the engine was in a car it doesn't fit.

This wrench is only useful when the motor mount and bracket have been removed. It's better to buy a factory tension wrench, otherwise you can't adjust the tension when the bracket and bracket are installed (comment applies to New Beetle 2.0L AVH engine).

This tool is very helpful in setting the correct tension on the timing pulley tensioner. Excellent quality tools. They are perfect for the idler pulley. Engine 1.8t.

This tool worked well on my 2000 GTI. I had to remove a lot of material around the timing belt idler to use the tool, including the motor mount. If you need to adjust the timing belt pulley, it's better to use a mandrel. If you don't decide to replace the belt, tensioner or other parts around, this tool makes tensioning quick and easy.

This is actually the second wrench I've bought. The pins of the first (can't remember the brand) were too big to fit in the pulley grooves. I had to enlarge them. Shley was purchased in anticipation of replacing the tensioner. I thought the previous tensioner didn't have standard size holes. So, new tensioner (Gates), new wrench (Schley), I still had to grind the pins in diameter as they didn't fit in the pulley holes.
