I wanted to upgrade my main computer from a mid-tower ATX case to something smaller. I finally settled on the SilverStone SG13 case as I was able to reuse most of my components. One thing I've had to change, though, is going from a full-sized ATX power supply to something a little less deep. SilverStone recommends that the ATX power supply should be no deeper than 140mm when using the SG13's drive cage. After a bit of research I found that the Seasonic Prime Ultra Gold power supplies are some…

SSR-1000TR vs. my EVGA 1000W Titanium T2

I bought this SSR-1000TR power supply to replace my EVGA 1000W Titanium T2 power supply which was causing coil whine. Both power supplies are very good. They work great and do what the PSU does. system performance. This SSR-1000TR does an excellent job of powering my system with Nvidia 2080TI, 9900K CPU, 8 case fans and multiple hard drives. Overall, both power supplies are great. If you need a 1000W titanium power supply, this Seasonic and EVGA is the best choice on the market. Now that I have

You literally can't beat Seasonic!

Update 2021: My seasonal games are still great! Two SSR-750TRs and one SSR-1300PD and I'm working hard on it with TR 3970x, several GTX-1080s and RTX-3090s in my various data processing rigs. Check out independent third party reviews and certifications, Cybenetics, JonnyGURU etc. Check out the crazy 12 year warranty. Seasonic objectively makes the best power supplies for consumer PCs. Don't get me wrong, I love EVGA, Corsiar, Antec etc. but these guys are the TDK Lambda power supplies for the…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

You may hear the talk about Seasonic making the absolute best power supplies. It was me - I was there too. I bought two of these puppies - one for a slot machine and one for a home server pc. I had no issues and was really enjoying the product until one morning when I tried to turn on my gaming computer without success. After swapping out the spare PSU I had (not Seasonic, just for reference) the computer turned on with no problems. After a year and a half of faithful service, the PSU just…

Noisy! Internal components

This thing sounds like a chair creaking loudly. In a normal room (not a quiet test room) it was 57 dB. I replaced it and the next one was just as loud. Hybrid mode gave me a choice of a consistently loud, annoying noise, or a less frequent but louder and more annoying noise with intermittent fan starts and stops. It wouldn't be so bad if the tone wasn't so high pitched and annoying, but it was driving me nuts. Seasonic said they did a quick test and it was within spec so they charged me for…

Hello Babe how are you? I make titanium! Whaaa!

Case: Cooler Master Trooper (no change) Motherboard: Asus Crosshair VI Hero Previous PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 900w (still working after 6+ years) Non-modular is a pain Fully modular is great and something simple depending on the occasion i have the fan switch on the whole time and didn't make any fan noises like some other customers. Looks hit or miss. I think the shipping cost if you need an RMA should be included in the warranty. PSU tester was a little wobbly. (Disconnected first) I had
