You know it's closed because it latches

This lock works very well. As the gate closes, you will hear and feel a strong click. There's no chance you'll leave the gate open. It was easy to install and came with strong screws. The only downside is a very nice handle on one side and on the other side of the gate the handle is not decorated. It works fine but they could put the same handle on both sides. This is one of the best home improvement projects under $30.

Nice solid hardware!

This lock is of exceptional quality. This makes the former castle look like a marionette. I like that the unlocking mechanism is a metal lever. No more ropes or the like. My precious lock never clicked. This closes with a satisfying "click". The only thing to consider is that the latch hardware is thicker and you need 1/3 to 1/2 inch clearance between the gate and the jamb. I didn't have any, so I had to carve a pole and gate a bit. Installation was a little tricky, but it was worth it…

Sturdy gate latch that closes and opens beautifully

I had to replace a poorly constructed latch I bought at a convenience store - you know latches where you have to slam the gate to close it when it's closes at all. Then you have to drill a hole in the post and route the cable if you want to open the gate from the outside. This latch is strong and well designed. Installation was very easy even though I only had about 1/2" between the jamb and the gate. FYI you need at least 3/4" of clearance to install this latch - this wasn't made clear in the…

Sturdy but with some design issues

I used this to replace an old and broken similar latch on my gate. I quickly ran into problems with the way it was designed. The gate latch is designed so that the lever has a connection point that connects it to the larger part of the latch. This will prevent it from shifting too much in either direction and falling off. The problem is that this latch has a part that sticks out the side of the DOOR. So if you have a gate with a small gap between the door and the latch jamb, it will hit that…
