Doesn't work in our app

I wish I'd taken another reviewer's advice and bought a "motion detector". Both sensors cost about the same. We tried to use this IR sensor in our kitchen pantry. We couldn't find a suitable place to operate the unit in our pantry for it to work with the door open. The IR sensor seems to have a narrow field of view compared to the motion detector and needs more IR contrast than our kitchen can provide. After spending about an hour getting the IR sensor to work in our app, I switched to "Motion…

Great Door Switch for LED Lights

I installed this switch about 6" from the left side of the jamb to get proper timing on the switch. I want the switch to be on the very edge, but since the switch is on the hinge side at the end of the door, the door has to open about 140 degrees before it moves far enough for the switch to work. This is the correct on/off time. If the switch had a sensitivity adjustment it would be better. It appears to be about 6 inches from it, and it won't turn on unless there's something in that space. If…

This is a short review I just received today so I can't speak to the history of the product but it looks and feels like a very well designed and made product. It paid off handsomely for this handyman. This was the final step in the new gun safe configuration I just purchased. I was really shocked at how easy it was to find the right spot to give me the shifting behavior I wanted. As shown in the picture, I placed under the step about 6-8 inches from the vault door. Switch side, not shown in…

Lighting solution for dark closets, safes and cupboards.

Works great. The trick to turning it on when you open a door or drawer is to place it very close to the edge of the door. Thus, the sensor (located opposite the wires) only "sees" the open or closed door and acts accordingly. If you place it in a place where it has a wide viewing angle, it will react to movements immediately. This may be helpful to some, but since I use it to turn on lights in closets, I mount them on the edge of the door so they don't get in the way. Perfect for Chinese LED…

Works great in my closet

I added this in line with the LED strip in the closet. Connectors fit snugly onto the light bar. The sensor works very well to turn the light on when the door is opened and off when the door is closed. The sticky backing is nice, but you don't want anything hanging from the sensor (wires and such) as gravity will eventually pull the sensor down. I added a clamp to take the weight of the wire off the sensor and it stays in place. Note: Don't forget to connect the sensor to the light strip right…

goods with a defect; that does not work.

The switch appeared to work when I tested it prior to installation, but after installation when power was applied the indicator flashed for a split second and went out. Switch, as soon as the cable entered one of its ports, the light flashed. I understand it's just a bad connection in the plug. I've been working with electronics for many years, so I decided to just cut off the suspected bad connector and solder on a new one. On a test bench with the plug removed, I connected the switch to my…
