This is done right

There are two types of USB to serial cables. There are those that have all pins connected correctly, and there are those that only connect the pins needed to connect to the serial modem. As for me, I'm a radio amateur and I connected the serial end to a board that needed DTR and RTS to work. He worked with this cable, so apparently all the contacts are soldered. Good to know.

Pros
  • Crossing my fingers
Cons
  • Clarity

Works great with a new computer!

Bought to allow WinSen to control the old gate system and it works great with the new computer running the old dinosaur gate system. It's been running for a while now (more than a few months I think) and I haven't heard any complaints. The old RadioShack adapter my client used had barely working drivers for Windows 10; When we built them a new computer, the old adapter stopped working. We replaced the old adapter with this one and it works great.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Reliability

Nice and long so I avoid hot air from servers

I use them for console work on network switches and old servers. They work better than my old ones that had a performance chipset (sometimes they weren't recognized anymore). I bought two of these and am using one on COM1 and one on COM3 so I can have two consecutive putty sessions open at the same time when setting up two swirches with VSS, VPC etc. I like that they are longer than my old ones so I don't have to stand directly behind the servers in the rack.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • For old

Received this to communicate with some PC home automation accessories (ADI Adicon 2500 Ocelot and Adicon 2500 RX8 CPU) which are still useful in their own right but were designed before USB and a needed obsolete one RS232 connection, which most motherboards don't have now, especially the Mini ITX. Once I defined the communication ports for my additional drivers and software, everything worked like clockwork. It's a bit slow, but I have a feeling it's the bottleneck of the old RS232, not the…

Pros
  • Happy so far
Cons
  • I'll write back later

The adapter makes a very good and solid impression, however I can't comment on the functionality as the DB9 connector is larger than the DIN standard, ie. If you don't have enough left-to-right clearance, the adapter's serial port will not fit and interfere with adjacent ports or the device case. I'd like to use it, but my standard computer interface doesn't have enough room for a plug. It's a shame. I would advise you to specify the physical size of the blue plastic serial port case in the…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • wobbly

My problem with computers and accessories has been solved

I needed to update the firmware in my ham radio transceiver. I tried using the cable and interface provided by the radio manufacturer but it was unable to communicate with the radio. My computer doesn't have an RS-232 port (there are few), so I had to find a compatible USB 9-in serial port. This one did the job and was easy to set up. The processing of the cable is excellent, and the LEDs in the 9-pin connector are somewhat usable, but not absolutely necessary for my purposes. The only problem…
