I ordered size XL based on a person's response that XL is a size 12-14. It was wrong. The XL label says 14-16. They were too big for my 11 year old who needs 12-14 year olds. We will now order L. Otherwise these are great shorts.

They stay in place when you tie them because the fabric is a comfortable thick cotton and the ties aren't flimsy or slippery.
