Not exactly an easy problem to fix for my use with cable extensions, but definitely something I overlooked and eventually had to figure out. It was necessary to use a server with relatively low power consumption. The adapter mount worked great and the power supply was quiet. I will try to remember to update if there are any problems.

Few power supply options are available in the SFX form factor. The PSU in my desktop computer was quite noisy, the fan worked fine, it just ran at high speed all the time even though the load was light (less than 100 watts). I installed it a few months ago and it's much quieter and I haven't had any issues with it. With a watt meter it also uses less power than it used to, so it's definitely a more efficient power supply than the old one I replaced.

I replaced a cheaper SFX power supply with a defective fan bearing. I've had frequent system reboots and have swapped memory cards before. After installing this new source I didn't have a single crash. It runs quietly and is stable, at least for now. I would have preferred a modular power supply as I only use a few power cords, but for the price I can't complain.
