Works, but not for long.

I bought this to increase the power of a small 8" electric fan that I used for my car's intercooler. The first attempts worked well, but then it failed disastrously. Since the take-out of my bank current was short-circuited at the input. The fan drew about 8 amps at 15 volts when I tested it with a current clamp, which was well within spec.

Pros
  • All epoxy coated containers with waterproof housing; Used in vehicles, security systems, telecommunications, medical equipment, instruments, etc.
Cons
  • Damaged

Capacitor required on inputs, otherwise works

I couldn't get it to work until I connected a 4700uF capacitor in parallel across the inputs. With no capacitor, the output is the same as the input, no gain. Now works fine on 80W setup. Can also work with a smaller coverage. I wanted to send it back but the cap made it

Pros
  • Lightweight, compact, easy to use and carry; Auto recovery
Cons
  • old

Great buck boosters for the money!

The title says "Buck" but the description (Boost 12-15V Buck amp) is indeed correct. You take a 12V DC input (9-13V) and boost it to a 15V DC output. All but one (which may work well but I was afraid to test/use it because it arrived damaged. More on that later) units have been tested well. I look forward to incorporating them into a sophisticated charging system comprising a bank of 6 Maxwell 2.7V 3000F ultracapacitors powered by a large 12V LiFePO4 battery. One of the units I bought was…

Pros
  • Input range: 12V DC (9-13V), output voltage: 15V/15A/225W. High efficiency: >93%. reliability, max. 40Β°C;
Cons
  • Crumpled
