Cherry Fun: Pitter and Pitter

It definitely makes removing cherries a lot faster and it was fun. The product is as durable as any other Oxo tool and the price was the best I've found.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Good, but not great

These are pits (HA!)

Typical Oxo product; well designed and constructed. It feels good in the hand and performs the assigned tasks correctly and efficiently. The splash guard works pretty well, keeping cherry juice splashes in a small area.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Weight

You can't find a better cherry pit

This is my second purchase of this product, the first was lost when moving. It handles cherries really well and the splash guard sets this item apart from the rest. I don't have to worry about making a mess when using it. Light enough to clean in the dishwasher and very easy to use.

Pros
  • Beautiful
Cons
  • There are nuances

Appropriate tool at Pitters

This works on cherries. The splash guard falls off from time to time: believe it or not, it holds back splashes a bit, so I just put it back. All in all, a reasonable solution for the occasional serving of cherry jam. It's not something to be admired or passed down from generation to generation - it just does the job.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • unreliable

I liked it at first: Stoner

The cherry stoner worked perfectly at first. It was easy enough for my three year old to use. However, the small plastic cup at the bottom started popping out when I tried to pit the cherries. The black plastic backing holding the mug has come loose and keeps popping out. I would have given 5 stars but the problem with the mug arose shortly after purchase so I can only give 2 stars.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Almost everything available

I love my cherry stone!

Well made, saved us time. Two of us manually removed 20 pounds of cherries before buying a cherry pit. After the pitter arrived one of us made 3 boxes in half that time i.e. 60lbs from one person goes as fast as 20lbs from two people. For those serious about making jams, jellies or fresh cherry tarts, this tool is a must have. The see-through hood over the pit also prevented splashes throughout the kitchen.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks
