📻 Sony ICF-P36 Portable AM/FM Home Audio Radio in Black Review

I have given two of these to elderly people in care centers. Everyone wanted to hear their favorite radio host that could only be found on the radio. I also use mine for the same purpose.

Working in the garden, listening to talk shows or playing games. It sounds better and cleaner than the old model with the built-in kickstand, and I miss that little kickstand on this model, but it's not a big deal. Sounds like a small transistor radio with a narrow audio bandwidth, but what did you expect?

I checked this out first and gave it three stars but after further use I increased it to five. The dial is poorly calibrated which led to my first check as the AM station I was trying to connect (740) barely showed up. The station fits fairly well - better than my other laptop in the same places. The sound is decent and the build quality appears to be good, apart from the imprecise dial.

Made in China. Has the legendary AM radio chip from Sony. Holds 2 AA batteries. This little gem picks up AM stations very well. Note that radio reception is affected by many factors. Old school analog AM-FM radio that works really well! It's very small and will fit anywhere, although the small size means it has a small speaker. It's unlikely to win awards for sound quality, but it sounds crisp and clear with good highs. Sensitivity to AM and FM is better than most similar radios I've used.
