Satisfactory product quality, good price.

With its pros. I chose the second DVD - writing, without a hard drive, because. basically, it's not needed. Writes well directly to the disc. Considering the resource of blanks in 1000 cycles written / erased, then this is normal. There is a DV in connector, good for dubbing from a digital video camera. Toshiba has a model without HDD, but also without DV in, so it was rejected. From the air, writing, programming, and then erasing is quite simple and convenient. Although I didn't compare much

Good Value for TV and Video

This combo deck is a great value. It's easy to use and does a great job of dubbing VHS tapes to DVD. It has plenty of AV connections and is easy to set up. I used an HDMI connection to connect it directly to my HDTV. As other reviews have said, it will not duplicate copy-protected material or allow you to record material that is broadcast with a protection signal, but you shouldn't expect that. It reads and writes a variety of DVD formats and does what it's supposed to do well.

Ideal for converting family VHS tapes

I wanted to wait until I had used the recorder for a while. I have about 200 VHS tapes from 1978. They are all family videos and I wanted to convert them to DVD. The first thing I realized was that I need a remote control to use the menu items. I bought one with no problems. It took a bit to learn, but now I've converted hundreds of hours with great results. None of the VHS tapes I converted were film, so I had no problems. I read that people had problems, but everything went perfectly for me…

Sony Combo Recorder

Great product. Works right out of the box, first time. Setup is easy and only takes about 10 minutes. I have a dish satellite system and have been warned that Sony has put a chip in this recorder that will disable any recording from the DVR. I found this claim completely false as I had no problem recording straight from Dish or DVR. Dubbing to a VCR is also easy if you set the recording speed first. I burned 8 hour old VHS tapes to a DVD. And if you buy an HDMI to DVI input cable, everything…

  • Ideal for outdoor activities
