Impressed! for cables and connections

My expectations of these cables were quite low. I mean it's just a cable right? Well I have to say I was quite impressed with its weight and feel. Powerful, beautiful and strong! I can already say it was a good purchase and I hope to have a long life with them. Usage: I bought two of these cables to use for my 15 inch network coming straight from my powered mixer. A good deal for the price and as I said, they give a good feeling of heaviness.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • There are nuances

Not 12 gauge and not pure copper

In the photo on the left is 12 gauge speaker wire from another source and Pyle's wire on the right. You can clearly see that Pyle is 14 gauge, not 12. It's also made of CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum), which can handle 25% less current than solid copper. Another commenter measured the cable impedance and found it to be over 1/2 ohm, which might not sound like much, but with a class D amp driving 2 ohm speakers that's a significant loss.

You could say it's cheap, but it's great bang for your buck!

This cable is a good choice if you don't want to spend more than โ‚ฌ80 for 2 Speakon speaker cables. The speaker/amp mount works, but you can tell the connector is cheap (knock off the star). Although for 2 years and 16 gigs there have been no problems with performance or with the connectors themselves. In response to all the bad reviews from other reviewers, it seems clear that Pyle has a quality control issue when it comes to these cables, I just haven't encountered it yet with the 8 cablesโ€ฆ

  • Easy to use

For the price it's still pretty hard to beat but not 12g

The ends fit the cable well and are quite usable, it's also a heavy feel with a thick protective film. The only real issue I've encountered is the obviously incorrect wire gauge markings, and I've included a picture of cheap 16g speaker wire in a large box for comparison. It might be a little (very, very little) thicker, but if I soldered the speaker wire I think they would be the same. The ends are separated, properly connected, screw terminals are used inside. They don't often buy theโ€ฆ

DO NOT BUY. COMPLETE GARBAGE

Complete junk. Don't buy anything from Pyle. I only bought because I needed something in a hurry and the ad specifically says 12 gauge wire so I figured it should be a while before I made better ones. I didn't realize Pyle was outright lying about what you get, but it's actually NOT 12 gauge wire. barely 16 gauge, really. Their claim that they were 12ga was the only reason I bought them. I needed something big enough to handle the high output of the subwoofers I was building and the junk I gotโ€ฆ

Intentionally misleading article. Avoid at all costs.

WARNING: Do not purchase this product. I just got mine and the wire seemed awfully small for a 12 AWG so I decided to take it apart. I didn't even have to measure the strands to see the main reason why you shouldn't buy this. The product is made of copper-plated aluminum instead of bare copper. In retrospect, I should have recognized that from the weight of the product. (Aluminum is less conductive than copper, which means you need more aluminum to match copper's performance.) Next, I comparedโ€ฆ

Do not buy; 12 gauge claim is questionable

I received these and immediately after contacting them suspected they were not 12 gauge wire as listed. I have been soldering and assembling microphone, instrument and speaker cables for about 5 years. I've dealt with a lot of speaker cables. Upon closer inspection I would guess that it is made of 14AWG wire or maybe even 16AWG. I have not completely disassembled the connector as I will be returning it to Revain. I don't have a good measuring tool with me, but I can do a quick visual comparison

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Damaged

Looks like a good cable

Got my cable in the mail today. Looks like a good cable, the speakon connectors seem to be good quality but I bought it to cut in half and use as 2 cables because my amp only connects to the bare speaker wire. I've read a lot of reviews that say they don't actually have 12 gauge wire, but most of those were previous reviews. So I assumed they might have fixed it. NO. The wire in them is about 18 gauge! Maybe 2 together could be 12 gauge, but that's not how speaker wire is rated. An 18 gaugeโ€ฆ
