Useful and reasonably priced

The product fits the Brent wheels and has no holes on top to catch throwing tools when making large platters. Some people mentioned the difficulty of taking off the sticker. I use a hair dryer to soften the adhesive and slowly pull up on sticker .I keep the heat on the adhesive side of the lifted sticker while I continue to pull the sticker off completely. Always works like a charm an any product sticker.

Pros
  • The Speedball 12 Inch Round Universal Pottery Wheel Bat provides high-speed output, allowing it to achieve excellent results in a shorter amount of time.
Cons
  • The product does not have a good reputation among pottery enthusiasts.

I would actually give this 0 stars if I could! It said it was universal but it really doesn't work with my wheel, I bought it on Prime and still didn't get the full refund which is total BS so I dislike it even more- not to mention very unhappy with Prime, so much so I didn't renew

Pros
  • STONG AND DURABLE - Made from injection-molded plastic with unique ribs
Cons
  • The product has a tendency to slide off of pottery wheels.

Holds on Wheel, but

This product does not sit flat on the wheel. We have a Shimpo Whisper RK. Like some of the other reviews have said, its pretty solid, but doesn't sit flat, so its basically useless. I bought it since it would arrive faster. I would suggest the plasti-bat which is a much better product.

Pros
  • This product comes in a beautiful orange color, adding a touch of style and vibrancy to your workspace or studio.
Cons
  • The product is not dishwasher safe.

Good batts, ribbed bottoms

I expected the batts to be flate on both sides but found that they are ribbed underneath. This is okay with me. They work fine and are perfectly stable with water, don't bloat like wooden ones.

Pros
  • Arts, Crafts & Sewing
Cons
  • The product does not have a non-slip surface.

Firm fit on potters wheel, no warping

I like my 40 year old marine plywood bats, and I avoid plastic like the plague. That said, these have one great advantage. When I make plates, wide bowls, and other things with wide bottoms (especially using porcelain) they do not separate easily from the wood bats. With these I simply wait for the pots to firm up and bend the bat over my knee, rotate 90 degrees and bend it again. No problem with separation, warping or cracking. Just flip over a d trim.

Pros
  • Great bat
Cons
  • The product has poor customer reviews.

The pin holes are a pain

The pin holes are not drilled all the way through so it is harder to judge exactly where they are to set the bat on the wheel.

Pros
  • Exactly what I was looking for!
Cons
  • It didn't seem to hold the clay when centering as well as other bats.

Fully functional - my new review

Pretty simple really, my friend the potter indicated that it works well and performed the job it was made to do on her wheel.

Pros
  • I’ve used this bat system on my speedball throwing wheel and I have no issues with it.
Cons
  • I couldn't tell that these were warped until I tried to use them, but they're basically unusable.

Hard to line it up with the pins

It is a nice bat but I have a real hard time getting it on the pins because there are no holes. After a few months of this I got the drill out and put holes in it. I will not buy another bat without holes, did not think it would be that hard to put on the pins. but it is.

Pros
  • ROUND BAT - 12 Inches
Cons
  • The product does not offer sufficient stability for pottery artists.

Good value and Not Warped

These bats are a nice size to save room on your ware shelf. Good size for most pots and bowls. Not warped. at least not yet. That's my review.

Pros
  • 11.3 ounces
Cons
  • The product is not suitable for use with high-fire pottery clay.
