Oak Won't Cut: Router Parts & Accessories

I used a drill bit to trim the rounded nose off the ladder to install hardwood instead of cutting. The bit proved useless as it couldn't work with 1" oak planks and just wouldn't cut them. If you plan on making thick jigs or routing hardwood, look elsewhere.

You need that beat! in cutters

I was very impressed with this product, I bought this cutter to cut pieces of plywood flush around jigs as I have written here. For a 1/4" shank tool, it has a long reach. The bearings on the bit spin cleanly and have no play. For the price, this bit can't be beat.

Pros
  • Perfect fit for me
Cons
  • Cleanliness

Sharp tip for a clean cut

This tip works great! First use was to cut some holes for a kayak hatch, this bit cut smoothly through plastic and had no chatter, just a clean easy cut. I've also used it on a few wood projects and it works just as well, leaving clean, smooth cuts that require little to no sanding. It's also very sharp, you can feel the edge of the blade so be careful when removing it from its protective case. I am very happy with the performance and will order more for my wodshop.

Pros
  • Wide range of uses
Cons
  • Very expensive

sharp and looks good quality BUT you get what you pay for

This was a great bit for a rush project but the buyer should beware of the ring holding the top two bearings , it's just an interference fit. with this sad one you can imagine that the small ring will loosen at some point. The press fit is not tight and after 5 minutes of use the ring flew off and the bearings came loose. Luckily I noticed this before it ruined a play I wasn't working on, otherwise this review would have been a lot more negative. I knew this from watching the beat when I got…

Pros
  • Up Cut Twist Drill Bit
Cons
  • No Auto

Great router but you need to know where the cutting area is

I broke the first router they sent me but that was because I didn't quite understand what part of the router could be cut off. The top of the drill bit (the end that connects to the router bit) is solid cylindrical metal until you get to the point where a spiral flute begins to cut into the shank. This area cannot cut through wood. Only when you have moved a little further towards the end of the trunnion do you get to the actual cutting area of the drill. I didn't notice this and tried…

Pros
  • Industrial grade router
Cons
  • No instructions
