I've been using this disc for about a month now. For the most part I am very happy with them. It's a true eSATA drive and runs about twice as fast on my system as other external USB2 and Firewire drives I have connected to my main computers. As expected, it also seems to be noticeably faster than all of my external SCSIs, but didn't really measure the throughput of those drives. Even a caveman can set up this product. Two notes on the file. Always turn on the drive before turning on the computer. Always turn off the drive when the computer is off. Hot swapping can sometimes cause the system to hang. I'll also buy a second one when it's full.

This drive works perfectly with Scientific Atlanta SA8300HD DVR and Time-Warner SARA version 1.88.17.a100. Setup was easy, requiring only an additional reboot of the DVR to utilize all the extra storage space for high-definition programming. Highly recommended in the given configuration.

I recently purchased this external drive for my Scientific-Atlanta HD8300 DVR cable box to expand my HD storage. Following the instructions on the web to install this cable box, the installation went flawlessly. The SATA interface works without any problems, the drive is quiet. In a word, the drive does its job!

I should have written this 3 years ago, this drive should have had 10 stars. As for why Segate stopped selling it, I'll tell you why. It's right and it's a great product. Maybe too good. You can boot from it, mount it in a VM, and run multiple operating systems. We are looking for a similar product.

This drive is very cool. I installed the included PCI card in a computer I built over 5 years ago and it works great. The only thing I don't like is that there doesn't seem to be a way to control the behavior of the disks in "sleep mode". It falls asleep and wakes up too often; Because of this, many simple tasks, e.g. B. Emptying the Windows XP Recycle Bin, often by a few seconds. Nonetheless, I really like the record.

I already have three Seagate 300GB external hard drives. They are excellent, reliable, quiet and fast. 500 GB is the same, only the capacity is larger. If I need another external drive I plan to buy another Seagate eSATA model just like the four I have. FWP
