This is about as boring as a spatula from Walmart. The handle is made of pitted wood all around, as if it were some kind of wooden train, and the surface is rough and sticky. I could use it to scrape dog poop off my shoes and that's about it. I knew at this price it seemed too good to be true. Save some money and just bite the bullet and buy a CS Osborne or some other good one.

Love this cheap knife. If you go to many reputable leather goods stores, you will see clippers for $200. Please check this first, it was very sharp and as leatherworkers we all have to sharpen our blades to keep the blade sharp. Maybe one day I'll switch to a fancy knife or grinder but I think it will be for many years to come as I really enjoy using this knife to get the job done. Good luck master!

The thing is very sharp; I find it effective for precisely cutting 2 to 8 gauge leather (cut carefully and be patient). The grip is a little slick for my comfort. I wouldn't say "no" to some sort of guardian (I despise bleeding on a project - #delicacy) and maybe some leather on the handle. The handle is made of polished softwood. I have been working as a tanner for a few years now and have always found sanding a chore. I have both a safe skiver and a super skiver from Tandy Leather, but getting a straight skiver with these tools is almost impossible. Update: BAYVAN Store (seller) contacted me after seeing that he had sent me a damaged product. They sent me a replacement and it arrived in much better condition. I spent a few minutes on a whetstone to get it to a razor blade and it works like a charm. I had no prior knife sharpening experience but I am happy with my product and very happy with the quality of customer service. The blade looks as if it was struck on metal. No chips, but clearly unusable. Very disappointing.

Sanding is something I really dislike when working with leather.
