I needed a headlight switch and wire harness. I install in 20 minutes. I have a job on 1945 thru 1985 cars in my hay day. This 1996 Ram 1500 is my newest car. I said to myself look at all those wires lol.

The switch failed 7 months after installing a new wiring harness and relay. It doesn't allow you to turn on the headlights and parking lights at the same time, for it to work you need to balance the switch between the headlights and parking lights, bad contacts in the switch will click.

Little did I know that in my case on a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 this headlight switch could fail and cause damage or a fire. Replacing the switch in addition to the LED headlights reduces the chances of the switch burning out. The factory headlights were halogen and the outlet would burn out the contacts on the switch.

Bought for my '97 Dodge Ram 3500 and it still works perfectly. It's a pain to install takes a little time. These are a defective issue for Dodge and had to be recalled from the factory on a dealer repair as they don't last very long especially if you drive high beam for a very long time! Let's see how long this one lasts! This is the third one I've replaced so far!

Wiring harness installed smoothly and seems well made but switches - Terrible product. Apparently they don't have the right functional design. No navigation lights in first or second train position with headlights on. If I barely pull it out, the dashboard and running lights come on, but they don't stay! Very frustrating! I tried two different switches from two different vendors. Same switches! made in Taiwan. Looking for quality now done. Waste of time and money on these switches.

I ordered and installed this on my 1996 Dodge Ram 2500. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the heat shrink that came with it is for soldering wire connections. I used butt connectors and had to run around to get heat shrink tubing to fit over them. Otherwise, so much for its good switch replacement. for your information. since they give you a new connector, you need to install a new connector. You never know where an electrical problem might lie. If this is beyond your skill level…

1996 Ram did not have side/parking lights. All other lights worked. I bought this combination switch and wiring harness and am satisfied. Installed last weekend. After removing the old switch, I noticed that both the old switch and the wiring harness were burned out. Not wanting to waste time soldering, I attempted to connect the old wire harness to the new switch. No parking lights OR dashboard.
