Requires an additional and expensive app

To use this with an Android device, you need to download an app to read smart card certificates. The only app that seems to work (doesn't work for everyone) costs another $100.

The idea behind this card reader is great. Handy and compact

The idea behind this card reader is great. It's convenient and compact. However, the connection for the USB-C part is sensitive. After only a few months of use, the light warped and is now failing.

Not working upon receipt

Received, not worked hard enough to give an honest estimate. The USB-C connector does not snap behind the holder/reader when you first remove it from its seat. I gave 1 star because I should have given 1 star.

The USB cable on the back broke after two months of use.

This is a great idea, but after a few months of use I can't give it high marks for two reasons: 1. Small problem. The tip is too short. I have a hard time pulling it over my head without almost choking and ruining my hair. 2. The main problem. The rear USB cable started to fail after two months of daily use. Now the USB connection to the computer is not reliable anymore. The computer keeps saying that the device turned off if I just touch the cord or move it even a little.

DOD/Gov computers require advanced setup

I've been using it for almost a month. It's a bit difficult, but it worked. But when I got the new icon today, the computer didn't recognize it. The product support page has instructions for military and government users to uninstall and reinstall many things to get it working. It might work for me, but it shouldn't be that hard, and I won't be messing around with security certificates (I'm not a security expert, so who knows what loopholes I might open - those certificates aren't trusted for…
