Black Stant Fuel Cap: Engineered to Match OEM Standards Review

This hat is a replacement for the one I lost for my 2008 Mazda3. It seems to work just as well and is clearly well made. I intend to keep a close eye on this so I don't lose it! Don't even think about paying for a real Mazda baseball cap!

After 9 months of trouble-free use, this lid no longer seems to hold a seal. Every time my fuel pump fills up, a horrible groan comes from the cap area. And now my check engine light is on with a vacuum error code, presumably due to insufficient pressure throughout the fuel system.

This cover fits my 2006 Mazda 3 well, only one problem I was aware of before I brought it and that was the cable didn't fit. The seller suggested I loop the cable to fit and I could try that, but it would be harder than it looks. If they had offered a matching harness I would have gotten five stars. Works great without a harness, just don't forget it at the train station.

I have a 2008 Mazda 3 and the original gas cap was ripped off like yours causing the check engine light to come on repeatedly. This is the best replacement part, except you're spending a lot more for a Mazda-branded replacement cap, which isn't needed unless you're the kind of person who can somehow forget to screw the cap back on and drive away after boarding. You need that thin strip of plastic (which broke on mine anyway) to keep the cap attached to your machine when it's unscrewed.

My original cover stuck without being able to remove it without destroying it. If this ever happens to you, use a pair of vises to pry off the old outer black portion of the cover, and then once it's removed, use two vises to clamp the walls of the cylinder at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions. . Then use the long bar to insert it between the two screw clamps, then turn counterclockwise to remove the stuck white part. Thread alignment, as does the bearing cap.
